Le Festival Sam'Africa, du 6 au 8 septembre 2024 est le festival africain de Samatan, dans le Gers en Gascogne.

Artistes, danseurs, chanteurs et animations de rue ou artisans vous feront découvrir la culture Africaine et les arts Africains. Les expositions vous feront voyager dans les pays du continent, à travers les œuvres : peintures, sculptures, photos...

De nombreux stages seront disponibles vous permettant de vous initier entre autres à la danse et aux instruments africains.

Combining discovery and local gastronomy, this walk will make your mouth water. Departing from Samatan, nicknamed “the mecca of foie gras”, travel through a colorful countryside dotted with Gascon farms, mills and small lakes.

Via the Save valley, the circuit takes you through a colorful countryside dotted with Gascon farms, mills and small lakes. On the way, you will pass Lombez (former bishopric) which was the seat of a Benedictine abbey created in the 11th century. It contains the Sainte Marie Cathedral with its stained glass windows attributed to Arnaud de Moles and the organs restored in 1995 which are said to be the most beautiful in the South.

In Cazaux-Savès, you will discover the imposing Caumont castle which was the host in the 16th century of Jean-Louis Nogaret-de-la-Valette, better known under the name of the Duke of Epernon and later in the 19th century Armand , Marquis de Castelbajac lived there.

The Pays Portes de Gascogne invites artists to propose works talking about the environment. The proposals designed make us think, observe, pause, contemplate, and make sense of our environment.
Heirs of the land art movement, the works which mark this route were created with the complicity of the inhabitants of the territory. Rent an electrically assisted bike and set off to explore the area!

In Gers, the heart of Gascony and the South-West, “Goose is not just a game”. With its fellow duck, it is part of the Gers landscape. Its establishment dates back to antiquity, and the Romans already knew of the existence of foie gras... Proof that this product, festive par excellence, has found its place on our tables in all circumstances and has been doing so for a very long time.

To the north of Comminges, between Montmaurin, famous for its Gallo-Roman villa and Lespugue, renowned for its “Venus” (prehistoric statuette), are the Save gorges.

Charming village, with its fortified church, its old central market hall, its museum, its half-timbered and corbelled houses, its fairground and shaded squares which invite you to visit. Simorre surprises and amazes.
The atmosphere of this small village is pleasant, as much as the musical and friendly nights on the square opposite the Bouche à Oreille.
